Dear Friends and colleagues,

      

        We are pleased to invite you to the first Athens–Pavia meeting that will be held in  Mati, Attica, Greece from Tuesday, June 3 to Friday, June 6, 2008. The location of the meeting will be the Aqua Marina hotel, a very nice resort by the beach (web-page: http://www.aquamarina.gr/).  The meeting was originally motivated by discussions between Guido Consonni, Petros Dellaportas, Ioannis Ntzoufras and Claudia Tarantola. Our intention is to organize this series of meetings annually or bi-annually (around 40-50 people). Co-organizers are welcome from both countries (or even third part countries) but Athens University of Economics and University of Pavia will be the main organizers. For the inaugural meeting, The School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University will also participate in the organization of the conference.

The meeting will be characterized by informal discussions and exchange of ideas between the participants. The number of participants will be limited to 30-50 people; participation is by invitation. Naturally, you can extend the invitation to your PhD. students.

Main topics of interest are: Categorical Data Analysis, Financial modelling, Forensic statistics Graphical Models, Latent variable models, Longitudinal data, MCMC, Marginal models, Model and variable selection, Models for categorical data, Non parametric statistics, Time Series Analysis.  

           The conference fee is set at 100 Euros payable to Athens University of Economics and business at the time of registration for people staying at the hotel.

           The participants that would not be staying at the hotel, will have to pay the registration fees until 30 April 2008 at Athens University of Economics and business (by deposit to our account) plus 100€ (payable at the hotel conference) that include 1 lunch per day (and of course, coffee breaks).
