Evdokia Xekalaki
Professor of Statistics

 

 

 

Evdokia Xekalaki is a Professor of Statistics at the Department of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business (since 1989). First Degree in Mathematics, University of Athens, Greece (1972), M.Sc. in Probability and Statistics, University of Sheffield, UK (1974), Ph.D. in Statistics, University of Bradford, UK (1977).
She has taught as a Professor of Statistics at the Department of Statistics, AUEB (since 1989) and as an Associate Professor (1986-1989). Before joining the Department of Statistics at AUEB she taught as a Lecturer at the Department of Statistics, Trinity College, University of Dublin (1979-1980), as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics, University of Missouri-Columbia (1980-1982), as an Associate Professor at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Iowa (1982-1983) and as a Visiting Professor at the Department of Mathematics University of Crete (1983-1986).
She was Chair of the Department of Statistics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (1989-1993 and 1996-2000), Director of the Graduate Program of the Department of Statistics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (1995-1997), Member of the Research Committee (1989-1993) and Member of the Senate (1989-1993 and 1996-2000) of the Athens University of Economics and Business. She has acted as Coordinator of the European Exchange Program SOCRATES since 1990.
Professor Xekalaki was a Consultant to the EUROSTAT (1987) and chaired  the Committee for the revision of the Consumer Price Index of Greece (1996). She has acted as Chair and Vice Chair of International Accreditation Committees formed by the Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus for the evaluation of B.A., B.Sc. and MBA programs of higher education institutions in Cyprus (since 1997).
She has published more than 50 papers in International Journals including the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Biometrics, Journal of Econometrics, Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, Communications in Statistics, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Statistics and Computing and she has presented scientific papers in more than 20 international conferences in several of which as an invited speaker.
Professor Xekalaki is Chief Editor of the journal of Quality Technology and Quantitative Management and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry.
Her research interests include Statistical Distributions and their Applications, Stochastic Model Building and Model Evaluation, Inventory Decision Problems, Accident Theory, Statistical Indices, Environmental Statistics, Statistical Demography, Non Parametric Density Estimation, Estimation and Testing for Mixed Models, Statistical Methodology in Actuarial Practice.
She is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of the International Statistical Institute, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the American Statistical Association, the Bernoulli Society for Probability and Mathematical Statistics, the International Society for Ecological Modeling, the Classification Society of North America, the Greek Statistical Institute and the Greek Mathematical Society.
