Evdokia Xekalaki Professor of Statistics

Evdokia Xekalaki is a Professor of Statistics Department of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business (since 1989). She is currently on sabbatical leave visiting the University of California, Berkeley.

Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry and acted as Chief Editor of the journal of Quality Technology and Quantitative Management (2004-2006).

Vice Chair,  International Accreditation Committee formed by the Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus for the evaluation of B.A., B.Sc. and MBA programs of higher education institutions in Cyprus (since 1997).

Professor Xekalaki was Chair of the Department of Statistics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (1989-1993 and 1996-2000), Director of the Graduate Program of the Department of Statistics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (1995-1997), Member of the Research Committee (1989-1993) and Member of the Senate (1989-1993 and 1996-2000) of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Consultant to the EUROSTAT (1987) and chaired the Committee for the revision of the Consumer Price Index of Greece (1996).

She has taught at the Department of Statistics, AUEB as a Professor (since 1989) and as an  Associate Professor (1986-1989), The University of  Crete (Greece), Department of Mathematics, (as an Associate Professor (1983-1986)), The University of  Iowa (USA), Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, (as an Associate Professor (1982-1983)), The University of  Missouri-Columbia (USA), Department of Statistics, (as an Assistant Professor (1980-1982)), The University of  Dublin, Trinity College (Ireland), Department of Statistics, (as a Lecturer (1979-1980)). She has visited the Department of Statistics, Trinity College, University of Dublin  as a visiting Professor during the academic year 2002-03, the  Department of Statistics, UC Berkeley, and the Department of Statistics and the Center of Deliberative Democracy,  Department of Communication, Stanford University as a visiting scholar  during the academic years 2004-05 (spring semester),  2005-06, 2008-09 (spring semester) and the academic year 2009-10.

She has published more than 60 papers in International Journals and has presented scientific papers in more than 30 international conferences in several of which as an invited speaker. Her research interests include Distribution Theory and its Applications, Stochastic Model Building and Model Evaluation, Statistical aspects of ARCH and stochastic volatility, Inventory Decision Problems, Accident Theory, Statistical Indices.

She is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of the International Statistical Institute and the American Statistical Association.
