ABOUT THE E.M.RThe International Biometric Society (IBS) incorporates many geographical Regions including Eastern-North America, Western-North America, Britain, Italy, and Australia, to name a few. Now, there is a new IBS Region in the Eastern Mediterranean. We feel that with the current activity in medical, biological and agricultural research in this area, and the increasing number of persons working in the area of statistical and mathematical applications to these fields, it is a great time for the development of the EMR Region. Our main aims are to bring together people in the Eastern Mediterranean who are working on problems relating to biometry. We hope to hold regular meetings in the region and to circulate a newsletter to members.
There were four conferences of our region till now with great success
The 1st International Conference of EMR was held in Athens in January 2001
The 2nd International Conference of EMR was held in Antaly, Turkey, in January 2003,
The 3rd International conference of EMR was held in Corfu, Greece, in May 2005 .
The 4th International conference of EMR was held at the Hilton Hotel, Eilat, Israel, on January , 2007. The conference included also a one-day special symposium in honor of Marvin Zelen on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
The 5th International Conference of EMR was held in Istanbul, Turkey on May 10-14, 2009. More details about the conference can be found here
The next meeting will take place in Greece, tentatively in May 2011. More information will be announced later
